In Symmetries, Dan Gazit explores abstract photography through the principles of balance, repetition, and geometric order. Each composition is constructed from precisely cut materials, including Bristol and foam (Kapa) boards, assembled into layered and three-dimensional forms.
The objects are placed on a custom-built light table and illuminated from below. This underlighting penetrates the structures, creating an internal glow while casting sharp, graphic shadows that extend into the surrounding space.
The resulting images combine minimal materials with complex visual systems. The compositions evoke architectural frameworks, mathematical symmetry, and design structures, while remaining rooted in physical construction and material presence.
The series examines the relationship between order and variation, transforming simple geometric elements into intricate visual orchestrations shaped by light.
